Mental Health is Wealth

So I’m coming back with a lot of posts about mental health. It is a very big and prominent thing that is being spoken about more and more in this day and age.It is so important, imperative even, that we only adopt a positive attitude regarding mental health and break the negative stigma that has been attached to it!

Just as someone breaks a leg and doesn’t feel embarrassed or bad for having a broken leg, someone with Depression or OCD or Anxiety or any other mental health issue should also not feel embarrassed to have. Similarly, just as easy as it is for us to call 999 if someone were to break a leg, we shouldn’t feel ashamed to ask for help with any disorder of our minds.

Likewise just as anyone can break their leg, anyone can fall into something such a really low, depressive patch in life, and this is okay! The key thing to remember is to always be there for someone who is struggling with any sort of mental health disorder. As the title says ‘Mental Health is Wealth’, we all need to adopt a positive view of mental health, it is just as important as physical health, only it can not be seen – so it tends to get brushed under the rug and looked down upon as there isn’t always physical evidence.

In order to break this stigma, we need to raise awareness, learn about the different disorders tell others about them!

Suicide remains THE MOST common cause of death for men aged 20-49 in the UK. Mixed anxiety and depression is the most common mental health disorder in Britain. 1 in 4 people will be affected by mental disorders worldwide at some point in their lives, it salso been found that nearly 2 thirds of these people with a known disorder won’t seek help, when it is known that most of these disorders can be treated.

WHY?

because of factors such as this stigma.

I’ll just let that sink in

*a positive attitude to mental health, and owning a good mental health, is wealth*
