COMPARISON

The subconscious killer.

Comparison can sneak up on you at the most unwanted, or even unexpected time.

It’s everywhere, in everything, and we can’t help but let it bother us, no matter how hard we try.

It can come from anything, from social media to simply walking down the street, someone always seems to have something you don’t have that you want, be that a body shape or simple a pair of sliders.

Comparison is truly a thief of joy, in fact its a thief of all things. It can put you in an awful place, it can stop you from going about your daily life – AND IT SHOULDN’T BE LIKE THAT!

Find your purpose. YOUR purpose. Don’t pay attention to anyone else’s life, especially not their social media life- because nobody posts when they go through a loss or a bad patch!

Keep your eyes fixed firmly on your path. While your friends and everyone around you may seem like they’re ‘achieving more’, don’t hold any jealousy. Be proud of your friends, be pleased for others that they are doing their best!

But don’t let that halt your progression, your success. I think if I have learnt anything from university, its that the only person you should be in competition with is yourself – always striving to do better than last time, and if you haven’t then working out how and where you can improve. Whilst also being comfortable enough in our own skin, to be pleased for our friends successes and comfort them in their losses.

I saw a nice quote this morning that says ‘don’t compare your life to others. There’s no comparison between the sun and the moon, they shine when it’s their time.’

I truly believe that we should steer clear of comparison, because it truly does sneak up on you like a thief in the night and have a damaging effect on our self esteem.

Social media, as fun and exciting as it is,  has a dark side and it is not going to hold back. If you are a human that breaths, and has emotions and a social media account, I’m sure you have come across comparison.

BE CONFIDENT IN YOU. IN WHO YOU ARE, AND WHAT YOU STAND FOR.

Maybe try a social media cleanse, even if its just for a couple of hours a month.. it will do you the world of good!
