I recently went out for a girly dinner and catch up with one of my good friends who I hadn’t seen since October. We usually go to a cute little pizza place in Wimbledon, but because we hadn’t seen each other in ages, we decided to upscale it, and go to the lovely, magical, fairy tale like restaurant- Restaurant Ours, in South Kensington.
Greeted at the door by two door men and two outdoor fire heaters, it was the perfect classy, and again fairy tale like beginning to our night. The first thing you see as you enter the restaurant is a rustic, simple, yet very effective bright white corridor, where the floor is illuminated by bright lights, finished with wooden boarders spaced out along the corridor, as if stepping into a magical world that has nothing to do with the messed up world outside. It truly did add to the magic of the whole night, and most certainly proved to be a great photo opportunity – the whole experience at the restaurant is instagrammable.
When you reach the end of the illuminated tunnel you are greeted by two very tall doors, and some lovely waiting staff who take your coats and bags, and then show you to your table.
Stepping inside the restaurant itself, again was magic, fitted with sleek black slate-like flooring, we clip-clopped in with our nice heels over to our rather dim lit table. Spotted around the restaurant, there are several trees enveloped in fairy lights, they were, for such a simple concept, an amazing addition to the magical feeling of the restaurant, there was also a wall covered in greenery. It is a very natural feeling restaurant, with a peaceful and naturistic vibe about it.
When seated, we were given the very simplistic but effective menu. This restaurant specialises in European cuisine, and is split into four different sections, Seaside, Land, Fire and Garden. All with a pleasant selection of, rather expensive, but incredibly scrumptious dishes.
They suggest you get 4/5 different dishes, and initially I did wonder why, but as the food started to arrive I could see why. The portion sizes are rather small, but after 4/5 dishes you would be absolutely stuffed! They bring the dishes out one by one; I opted for their signature Ours Lemonade, Lamb Chips (not lamb chops I know what I wrote) these are gorgeous. Bread crumbed and deep fried strips of lamb, with a tomato dip. These were A* quality, I honestly finished eating those a changed woman. I also decided to have the Chicken Breast, Courgette and Parmesan, with a side of Tender Stem Broccoli, Sweetcorn and Bacon. Again, I can’t even begin to describe how AMAZING this food was, but it’s very safe to say when I next get paid I’m going back!!!
The presentation of the food was honestly amazing, like my chicken came with flowers, and because some of you know I have allergies to certain foods, they were very accommodating to my dietary requirements and I felt very safe eating their food!
Although the initial main attraction to this restaurant wasn’t actually the food, I have been turned. This place is almost heavenly. The staff and the nonmainstream music that plays in the background make it such a pleasant dining experience, and of course, the aesthetic of the restaurant really adds to the natural, fairy tale like experience.
After we had paid, the rather pricey bill (its okay, for the quality of the food, it was totally worth it- plus I was treating myself so I really didn’t mind), we went to the bathroom. On the way to the bathroom we were greeted with the first thing I ever saw of the Restaurant on social media….
It’s only the blimming WALL OF FLOWERS!! This, personally, is my dream wall. When I have my own house I really, deeply want one of these somewhere in it, or on it.
How do they water all those flowers? (you ask)
Oh lol, unfortunately they’re fake, HOWEVER, they don’t look all that fake, and in real life they’re incredibly soft and well kept! They are certainly no wilko quality, they are like… if Gucci sold fake flowers (they might actually, but I haven’t a clue).
But yeah, I have blessed you with a cute photo of me standing by the pink flower wall because why not! Again, adding to the magic of the evening and making it seem like a fairy tale. A different type of restaurant than what I’m used to.
Even the bathroom was cute! The whole restaurant is, it’ s as if they dipped into 5 year old Princess aspiring Maya’s mind, and used that as inspiration! It is actually my dream location.
It’s a given that I’m showing you photos of everything cute in this restaurant, there was always something catching my eye. The walls are covered with this really cute palm wall paper, again adding to the natural aspect of the restaurant, and this wall paper coupled with the pink accent tile wall, just makes the Ladies bathroom really cute. Again backing up my claim that every moment at this restaurant is instagrammable!
Overall, I am so content with this restaurant, and I’m so glad my friend introduced me to my now new favourite restaurant. I would recommend this for a really special occasion, unless you’re stinking rich then GURLLL… get down there right now!!!
